At Krēm, our journey is more than serving delicious treats; it's a legacy of spreading joy through every bite. For four generations our family has been crafting moments of happiness, one scoop at a time.
The flavours of tradition and passion
Founded in 2019 in Westport, Co. Mayo, Krēm Gelateria & Cafe is the brainchild of Graham Byrne, a fourth-generation gelato and pastry chef with a remarkable family legacy. It all began in the 1930s with Graham's great-grandmother, who made ice cream in their village, and the skill has been passed down through the generations since.
Driven by a thirst for knowledge and a passion for flavour, Graham travelled the world to learn from different cultures and accomplished chefs, immersing himself in the art of gelato making and earning 14 awards along the way.
Back home in Westport, Krēm was born: a testament to generations of knowledge and an unwavering passion for gelato. Every batch is made with care, so that each scoop carries that heritage and craft.

It isn't just the quality of the ingredients or the creativity of the recipes; it's the care that goes into every creation. Whether it's a gelato or a crêpe, you can taste it in every bite. That dedication is what has earned the loyalty of our customers and made Krēm part of so many memories.
Gelato is in our DNA, and so is Mayo. We take pride in sourcing locally: the richness of Irish milk, freshly baked bread from down the road, and the unique touch of Achill Island sea salt. Using what our own community has to offer is what makes every flavour truly ours.

The people behind the counter
Krēm is a small team on Bridge Street: the people who make the gelato in the morning, pull the coffee, flip the crêpes and know the regulars' orders by heart. They are the smiles in “serving up smiles”.
